MechAMS V2.2

Buy MechAMS V2.2

Digital files, not a hardware kit. The €49 package covers one printer model; the €89 project covers both and adds Discord, the Workshop and the STEP files with the first stable release.

MechAMS V2.2 is the current release. The files you download are the files I print from.

Start with the top bar, take one printer, or take the whole project.

Specifications

What it is, in numbers.

Slots
8, passive (no motors)
Printers
Bambu Lab A1 and A1 mini
Drive
The printer's own extruder, through a spur-gear dock
Electronics
None
Firmware
Stock, untouched
Tubes
Up to 8 PTFE tubes, one per station, at least 50 cm each on the A1, 40 cm on the A1 mini, not included
Bearings
MR115ZZ, not included: five in the toolhead and four per station, 37 for all eight. Or print them.
Parts cost
For all eight stations that comes to about €60 with bought bearings, or about €20 if you print the bearings, at eBay.de prices in October 2026. Plus the filament you print it from.
Filament change
40 to 60 seconds in regular use. Set up for speed, under 30 seconds is possible.
Purge
Set in the generator. It goes into a bin at the rear, with no purge tower.

Extruder drive
The end of the extruder gear axle is filed once at install, so the printed coupling seats; extrusion is unaffected
Tolerance
0.20 mm, the only tolerance in the files
New in V2.2
Easier installing · Less filament and reduced weight · More grip and less friction points · Better and easier PTFE routing · Easier customization

Before you build

Build requirements

  • A Bambu Lab A1 or A1 mini on stock firmware.
  • PLA for the printed parts, TPU for the belt and the filament drive wheels and, on the A1 mini, PETG for the top bar.
  • MR115ZZ bearings (11 × 5 × 4 mm): buy them, or print them if you'd rather. Five go in the toolhead and four in each station: 37 for all eight.
  • Up to eight PTFE tubes, one per station, at least 50 cm each on the A1, 40 cm on the A1 mini. You can't print those.
  • A slicer: Bambu Studio, or OrcaSlicer with the settings typed in.

Print and assemble it yourself. Installation involves opening the stock toolhead and filing the coupling interface. Then calibrate each station and set up the generator and your slicer.

The build guide opens in your account once you have a licence.
